Branch members enjoyed a day out at Horseguard’s on Saturday 3rd May for the Major General’s Review 1,400 soldiers from the Household Division paraded in front of 5,500 spectators for the first of three annual world class military demonstrations this month that culminate with the Queen’s Birthday Parade on 17th June.
The Major General’s Review is the opportunity for Major General Ben Bathurst, the General Officer Commanding The Household Division, to review his troops and ensure that they are of the required standard before HRH Prince William takes The Colonels Review this Saturday, and HM attends the Queens Birthday Parade on 17th June.
Together with two hundred horses; over two hundred musicians from six bands and corps of drums march and play as one. Some 113 words of command are given by the Officer in Command of the Parade.
The Regimental Mascot of the 1st Battalion Irish Guards who were trooping their Colour – a wolfhound named Domhnall was also on parade.
